Sylvania Heights Public School promotes and supports the implementation of appropriate sports and sports focussed programs for all students by encouraging participation, skill development and excellence in performance.
In the early years at school the students are provided with a routine of fitness, gross motor and fine motor activities. These are also supplemented through the introduction of minor games to learn team skills. Gymnastics and swimming programs are also programmed to meet the needs of K-2 students.

The school provides opportunities for participation in sport leading to possible representation at Zone, Area, State and National level in individual and team sports.
Sylvania Heights Public School provides a wide variety of programs for its students, some incorporate coaches from various sporting organisations and codes. These include AFL, rugby league, basketball, learn to swim - including life saving and stroke correction and water polo.

Each week the school runs an extensive school sports program in indoor soccer, bowling, dance and skills based programs.
