    Our 2009 Book Fair

Our school’s annual Book Fair was a big success. It was held on Thursday, 28th May, during Education Week.

    2009 Book Week

Book Week will be celebrated in  late August and this year’s Book Week theme is “Book Safari”.  To relish Book Week all students from Kindergarten to Year 4 will visit our local library, Sylvania Public Library. All students (from Kindergarten to Year 6) are also encouraged to enter our Book Week competitions which will range from colouring in activities to creating art works related to the Book Week theme and short-listed books. There will be exciting prizes for each stage level.

    2009 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge

All students from Year 1-6 are encouraged to participate in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge, a reading venture comprising three separate categories for students in primary school. Every Kindergarten student will complete the 2009 Premier's Reading Challenge at school (during class and library time). Students in Year 1 and Year 2 are required to engage with 30 books , including 25 from the Premier's Reading Challenge K-2 booklist. Students from Years 3-6 are required to independently read 20 books, including 15 books from the Premier's Reading Challenge 3-4 or 5-6 booklist. The 2009 NSW Premier's Reading Challenge concludes in mid August and I encourage all students to take part.

I look forward to seeing you when you visit our school library.

Happy Reading from Miss Field (Teacher-Librarian)
