The Sylvania Heights School Council is the peak decision making body at the school. Over many years Council has led major initiatives that have supported the goals of the school.
Council is made up of elected representatives of staff, parents and the school community. The presidents of parent bodies within the school automatically become members of the School Council. The Principal serves on Council as the executive member.Council's major roles include:

Establishing broad priorities for the school

Determining local student welfare policies

Providing guidance for the Principal

Presenting and promoting a positive image of the school
These are some aspects of the role played by council at Sylvania Heights. The School Council usually meets seven or more times each year.
